Me, tracey and john wall at Volcan Masaya

Tracey arrived to Managua a week before John to take some Spanish medical terminology classes. I took advantage of the opportunity too and enjoyed practicing P.T. evaluations and learning some technical terms. John arrived just in time to join us in a one-day medical clinic about an hour outside of Managua. Tracey and Dra. Aracelys saw patients while John worked with Carlos, the Babcocks, and Claudia in the pharmacy. I met a patient with my namesake.

After the clinic John and Tracey headed to Ometepe Island while I worked in the office. A few days later we hopped in the car and drove 4 hours north of Managua to explore the mountainous town of Somoto and it’s famous canyon. Upon arrival, a kind young man (and stranger) gladly, and spontaneously, guided us about an hour and a half into the canyon and led us directly to some of the canyon’s caves.

Wondering toward our home for the night

After what I would call a chilly night of camping in the cave, we spent the next day exploring the canyon. We didn’t know exactly what we would encounter along the way, but that was more than half the fun! Rock hopping, hiking, and swimming down the canyon’s river…with two good friends…pure bliss.

    Hey there,
when browsing the internet for ultimate activities in managua, I encountered your post of some time in July.
Is there any possibility to play ultimate regularly in managua? Tal vez, tienen algunas direcciones?
    Gracias!
