Tulsa Day 1 and 2

Jan 21st, 2010 by Mary | 0

We definitely feel the love in Tulsa! A group of folks from Kirk of the Hills Church greeted Yakelin and I with open arms at the airport in Tulsa when we arrived. They were quick to hand Yakelin a coat and shower us with hugs. It’s nice to be loved!

We left the airport and headed to our new “home”. Marla is letting us stay in her huge condo while she is away. What a blessing! Yakelin has been amazed by all of Marla’s cool kitchen gadgets and her huge bed.

Yakelin has been a real trooper. We spent 4 hours in the eye doctor’s office in pre-op assessments on Wednesday. Afterward we quickly gobbled up some lunch at “home” and then headed to the dentist office. She had the first teeth cleaning of her life. Let’s just say ibuprofen and salt water are our new best friends. She has a lot of gum inflammation after all the cleaning and scraping they had to do. They found a cavity and she had it filled today. Like I said, she is a trooper. She didn’t complain of pain or even squirm in the dental chair!

Tomorrow we have another eye appointment, a fun lunch outing and a high school musical.

She really misses her two daughters and we haven’t been able to reach them by phone yet. Tonight we tackled a few controversial verses about what women are allowed to wear in church. Our discussion got cut short, so hopefully we’ll pick up where we left off tomorrow. Feel free to share verses that you think might be helpful in our search for truth. Thank you for your prayers.
