Tulsa Day 3

Jan 23rd, 2010 by Mary | 1

Today was hard.  Both Yakelin and I cried, for different reasons and at different times.  I think being away from her children is really hitting her.  We went to the Kirk Church to try to call her children, but were only able to reach her father.  He promised to visit the aunt that is caring from Yakelin’s children later today.  Afterward, we talked with Alcides in Nicaragua and he was able to get her aunt’s phone number for us.  We didn’t get to talk with her aunt and kids today, but hopefully she will be able to “Skype” them tomorrow.

The eye appointment was difficult today because she became afraid that they were going to decide not to perform her surgery. God provided a beautiful young latina technician to counsel and console her for a few minutes at the clinic and her spirits began to lift. After the appointment a good friend, Pat, picked us up from the clinic and took us to lunch. Then we hit Wal-Mart. We picked up some necessities and Yakelin got a great new haircut! (see below)

After eating a quick dinner at home, George and his lovely wife Linda picked us up and we went to see a high school production of Jekyll and Hyde. I don’t think it was ideal for me to try to translate during the show, but at least Yakelin was able to follow along and seemed to enjoy it.

Jekyll and Hyde

We are both tired tonight, in fact Yakelin has already hit the sack. We look forward to a quiet Saturday morning, with the exception of a quick visit to the dentist again because Yakelin is having some lingering pain.

Hi Mary, thank you for the updates. God bless you and all you are doing with your life. Kristen and 7 and I will pray for you today, and for blessings for Yakelin, to HIS glory.
I am working hard on getting teams to Haiti and Uganda, meanwhile training 2 new Nica leaders and a S Africa team, so please pray for us here as well!
