About

Hey!  Thanks for checking out my blog and for your interest in finding out a little bit more about who I am.

I am originally from Miami, Florida.  After graduating from high school, I left Miami to study at the University of North Florida.  Shortly after finishing up with a degree in physical therapy, I moved to Greenville, South Carolina to began working as a physical therapist.

During college I began to feel my heart being drawn to working overseas for the sake of Christ.  I wasn’t sure how physical therapy could be used overseas at that point, but I began to seek God about it and to give my life as I knew it into God’s hands.

I truly believe God led me to live in Greenville, SC, because if He hadn’t…I certainly wouldn’t have gone.  No offense intended, it’s just that there was only one state I said I’d never live in…and it was South Carolina!  I learned my lesson and don’t use the word “never” very often anymore.  After 6 and a half years of living in Greenville, I can now say that South Carolina isn’t quite as bad as I once thought it was.  In her mountains, I learned to kayak, rock climb, contra dance, backpack, and mountain bike.  Although I love outdoor adventure activities and was super stoked to be involved in all of them, the thing was even more amazing was how God used Greenville as a place to develop and grow me in my relationship with Him and in my understanding and passion for overseas missions.

I began going to Grace Church in Greenville in 1998.  I was a member of several mission teams to Costa Rica through the church and also took a course called Perspectives on the World Christian Movement (www.perspectives.org).  Through these experiences my interest in and understanding of overseas missions grew.  Over the next few years I collaborated with Medical Mission International, Christ for the City International, and my church to bring medical teams to Costa Rica and Nicaragua.  My passion throughout my walk with Christ has been for those that do not yet know Christ to have the opportunity to hear about Him in a real and relative way.  I loved the idea of using medical missions to reach spiritually hungry people with the good news of Christ.

In 2004 during one of the medical outreaches in Nicaragua, I was invited to join Christ for the City International as a full-time missionary in Nicaragua. I was thrilled to have the opportunity to use my medical background to help the spreading of the gospel of Christ.  After a semester of language school in Costa Rica, I started serving as the Nicaragua medical teams coordinator in January of 2005.

The medical teams that come to serve in Nicaragua are partnered with a team of local Nicaraguan church members.  Together, the two “teams” unite and provide free medical and spiritual care to those that visit the clinic.
